Only about half were born in the parish. The birthplaces range from Berkshire and Wiltshire, Devon and Dorset, South Wales and the U.S.A. The list includes two sets of brothers. Five were married men. Eleven children lost fathers. It has been possible to find out more about some men than others. This does not mean that their stories are more important, only that records are more readily accessible and information more easily verified.
