[RINGMASTER COMMUNITY MESSAGING - SOMERSET EAST - SSW2]
This message is sent to remind members of all schemes of the continued breaks to sheds, garages and outbuildings.
These crimes are prevalent at this time of year - at the moment they are occurring in the urban and rural areas. Crimes are largely occurring at night but some also during daylight hours. Entry to some properties has been forced but in some cases the outbuilding has been left insecure.
A mixture of items have been stolen including garden equipment, garden tools, pedal cycles and from the rural areas quad bikes and other items stored in sheds. Please remind members of the importance of keeping all sheds, garages and outbuildings secured. Advisory leaflets on garden security are available from the NHW office on request and give some useful ideas on extra security measures.
With the recent good weather we have been having accross the area - there has been a noticable crime trend in the amount of thefts of garden furniture, particularly in South Somerset.
I urge you to take note of the following points;
* Try and secure your furniture and garden entrances if possible.
* Mark items with your post code and house number or name
* Photograph any unusual items such as statues.
* And to report promptly to the Police anyone seen acting suspiciously.
Please also remember to ensure that all suspicious activity is reported direct to the police on the general number 0845-456-7000. Do not hesitate, but report the activity as soon as it is noticed and ask for your call to have a `NHW' tag added.
